“My idea is for the viewer to be carried back to peaceful memories, like childhood memories where the colors were brighter, the air softer and the mornings after rain more fragrant than ever.” —Jonas Peres

Art and Emotion

Art is something inseparable from the human species; The paintings in the caves demonstrate this. From a very primitive evolutionary stage, human beings felt the need to express and share their emotions and feelings.

Art is present in our lives to give us exaltation, but it requires the effort to get closer.

Things have not changed that much and, since the times of rock art; Art is still present in our lives, changing them for the better.

An example is the city of Rome, which shows some deterioration in its streets and buildings; However, when you are there, these details are forgotten. However, when a part of art is lost, it happens like with species, the world is sadder, poorer and smaller.

Art is a concept that encompasses many dimensions and is difficult to describe, there is not even a universal concept about it, although its expressions are.

Thousands of authors have spoken about its meaning. Etymologically, the term comes from the Latin ars and would be the equivalent of the Greek Τεχνική (technique). Its initial use was all human production and know-how. This extensive field affected the gardener, the builder, the painter, the poet, the ruler, etc. As time went by, the voice focused on other aspects, according to what each author or era considered.

Aristotle considered art as a means of making the essence of things visible; The medieval vision focused on the liberal arts (arithmetic, astronomy, dialectics, geometry, music and rhetoric); the Renaissance revived architecture, painting and sculpture; and until the 6th century BC. In the classical world an artist was one who possessed a special skill or ability.

Therefore, although the concept, taken etymologically, is not universal, it is true that art is the basis of human expression.

At its root is true civilization, which unites us, universalizes, equalizes, because, despite all the differences inherent to the peoples of the world, at its core beats the same species, with its contradictions, feelings, roots, impulses, which It makes us feel, get excited, cry, laugh or be enraptured by a creation of another human being.

Art moves us and directly transmits emotion; generates truth through images. As Carl Sagan would say, we are citizens of the cosmos and all the aspects that help us understand it make us feel good. Each of the works of art we stumble upon shows us that we are a unique civilization and reminds us of the importance of knowing the precious treasure of accumulated knowledge of humanity. ●
