Vestige series, VisionsVeil Vestige I
Jonas Peres, 2026
A work exploring the lingering presence of the sacred through light, memory and color.
Belongs to the Vestige series — a body of work centered on traces of the sacred that persist across time. Inspired by the European veiled sculpture tradition, particularly neoclassical and funerary marble sculpture, the series dissolves inherited imagery into luminous chromatic fields where presence is sensed rather than represented.
Rather than revisiting historical symbolism directly, Vestige explores what remains — silent gestures, emotional residues and atmospheric echoes suspended between disappearance and revelation. Through translucent layers of color and light, the work becomes a contemplative field in which memory is reactivated through perception.
